Zenit St Petersburg have signed Portugal defender Bruno Alves from Porto for a fee of €22 million.

Alves, 28, won four league titles during a five-year spell with Porto, but has now
joined international team-mates Danny and Fernando Meira at the Petrovsky Stadium.

Zenit are unbeaten in 15 games this season and sit nine points clear of second-place CSKA Moscow.

Alves is Zenit’s third signing in recent weeks, following the arrival of striker Aleksandr Bukharov from Rubin Kazan and defender Aleksandar Lukovic from Udinese.
