Everton midfielder Tim Cahill has lost his appeal for wrongful dismissal during the Merseyside match against Liverpool.
Cahill was sent off ten minutes from time for a sliding challenge on Xabi Alonso during the 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park.
Everton boss David Moyes said the dismissal was harsh and the club lodged an appeal on Monday.
However, The Football Association has rejected their appeal and Cahill will now be forced to serve a three-match ban.
