Jose Antonio Camacho made a winning return to club management as his Benfica side beat 10-man Gil Vicente 3-1 last night.

Goals from Nuno Gomes, Tiago Mendes and Armando Petit were enough to secure the points for Benfica after Emmanuel Duah had given Gil Vicente a surprise lead.

‘We have to savour victory a little and leave Sporting until tomorrow,’ Camacho said after the game.

‘Now is the time to think about our win, and see how the team is. By Saturday we’ll need to think of everything to see what needs to be done,’ added Camacho, whohas taken over at the club until the end of the season.

‘I think we played to win, we created many chances,’ he said.

‘There were times when our opponents were very strong, but the team got back on top. Football is sometimes a two-sided affair.’

Benfica now lie second on 26 points, four behind Porto, who have a game in hand.
