Vincent Candela has denied reports circulating in the Italian media that he will move from Roma to Juventus when the transfer market re-opens in January.

It had been suggested that the Frenchman would move to Turin in exchange for midfielder Edgar Davids, who has been linked with a move to Roma since the summer. However, Candela denies that any such mmove is imminent.

‘I’ve never heard anything from anybody at Juventus,’ he was quoted as saying in Corriere dello Sport on Thursday.

‘My bag has never been packed. Certainly the whistles at the beginning of the season didn’t make me happy, but I’ve never thought my time at Rome was up.

‘At the start (of the season) I had a few problems finding my form, but now I feel okay, 100 per cent. I’m ready for a great season with Roma.’

Roma coach Fabio Capello was swift to dismiss the reports. ‘He’s one of the best wingers in the world,’ he told Corriere dello Sport.

‘There’s been no step back on his part. He’s playing much better now. His problem was one of regaining the condition to allow himself to play as he knows how to.’
