Fabio Cannavaro has admitted he would love to return to Juventus, despite some fans making it clear he would not be welcome at the club.

Juventus fans were angered when Cannavaro moved to Real Madrid following the club’s demotion for their role in the 2006 match-fixing scandal.

But Cannavaro doesn’t feel this would prevent him returning to Turin when his Madrid contract expires in the summer.

“Everyone knows that I would return to Juve with joy in my heart because I had two beautiful seasons in Turin,” the World Cup winner told Tuttosport.

“People expected me to stay (in 2006) but I’ve already explained a thousand times what happened. I am not worried. I will definitely talk with the fans.”

Cannavaro had earlier revealed he would like to return to his hometown club, Napoli. But club president Aurelio De Laurentiis has said the 2006 world player of the year is too old to play centre-back.

Cannavaro’s agent, Gaetano Fedele, has claimed there are also offers from England, Russia and Germany.
