Antonio Cassano has been fined and handed a five-match suspension after he threw his shirt at the referee following his sending during Sampdoria’s 2-2 draw with Torino on Sunday.

The striker, on loan from Real Madrid continued to shout abuse after eventually leaving the field.

The former Roma forward was charged with seven offences and will have to pay a €15,000 fine as well as missing the remainder of his side’s games in March.

Cassano offered a public apology after the incident.
