Roma have denied reports that they were considering selling Antonio Cassano in Rome.

The lifting of their transfer embargo has prompted speculation that Roma may be vulnerable to offers for Cassano, who has refused to sign a new contract despite his current deal expiring next summer.

But coach Luciano Spalletti is desperate to keep hold of the player.

“We will be doing some things in the transfer market, but Cassano won’t move,” said Spalletti defiantly.

Juventus have regarded as possible suitors for the Italian international, although General manager Luciano Moggi has denied this.

“Cassano isn’t in our plans, and other Giallorossi players aren’t. It’s useless saying otherwise,” he stressed.
