Celta Vigo have sacked former Bulgaria coach Hristo Stoichkov after just six months in the post.
Spanish media claim that former Real Madrid and Levante coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro was favourite to take over at the club.
Stoichkov resigned as Bulgaria coach to replace Fernando Vazquez in April but failed to prevent the side being relegated from the Primera Liga last season.
They have had a disappointing start in the second division and lie 11th in the standings with 10 points from seven games.
