Bordeaux coach Ricardo Gomes hopes his side can bring their improved domestic form on to the European stage when they face on Wednesday.
Despite languishing at the foot of Group C, both teams have something to play for tonight, with a win for either side ensuring the consolation of a place in the Uefa Cup. place is still on offer.
“Our supporters deserve a victory,” said Gomes. “At PSG we did good things, but we did good things before that without winning. We managed to do that in Paris and have to build on that now.”
Bordeaux have yet to score in the competition this season, and their cause will not be helped by the loss of striker Marouane Chamakh.
However, Jean-Claude Darcheville has recovered from a calf problem and is likely to play up front with Lilian Laslandes.
“We’re going to play a team that will sit back and wait for us,” added the Bordeaux coach. “We have to find the attacking solutions to score and to win.”
Gala coach Erik Gerets is determined to ensure that his side’’s European season does not come to an end tonight.
“Going into the UEFA Cup is better than staying at home and watching the Champions League and the UEFA Cup on television,” said the Belgian.
Stjepan Tomas is missing through suspension, so Tolga Seyhan should play in central defence alongside Rigobert Song.
A draw would keep Galatasaray third and leave Bordeaux needing to beat the Turkish side’s result against Liverpool in two weeks’ time to overtake them.
