Debrecen coach Andras Herczeg knows the Hungarian champions have to cut out the mistakes they showed in their 4-0 defeat by Lyon on Matchday 2 if they are to claim their first points in Group E against Fiorentina.
Viola coach Cesare Prandelli, meanwhile, has called for more of the same from his players after their impressive victory over Liverpoollast time out.
“I hope we don’t make the same mistakes we did at the start of our last Champions League match against Lyon – if we don’t then perhaps we can score a goal and get a good result,” said Herczeg. “We know this will be difficult because Fiorentina are a European-class side who have players who can come up with the unexpected at any time.
“We’ve analysed four or five games, but you can never predict the unexpected. We hope to play an entertaining match here at the Ferenc Puskas Stadium and change the situation that has seen us fail to score a point so far.”
Prandelli, who celebrated his 200th game in charge of Fiorentina in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Juventus, is not expecting an easy game tonight.
“Debrecen play nice football and are a real footballing team,” he said. “Of course we want our good results to continue and we need to continue our fine form, but we know it will be very difficult.
“In our weekend game against Juventus we played with a very positive attitude in terms of retaining possession and we have become adept at building attacks quickly, but our form will not decide this match. Our hard work over the last few years has borne fruit, but our players can still improve.”
