Milan 3-1 Fenerbahce
A dazzling individual goal by Kaka three minutes from time ensured that last year’s beaten finalists got off to a winning start in this year’s campaign, beating a spirited Fenerbache side 3- 1.

It was the Brazilian playmaker’s first effort – a low, powerful drive from the edge of the penalty area – that put the Azzuri in the lead after 15 minutes.

However, despite enjoying plenty of possession, they failed to increase their advantage, allowing Fenerbache to equalize in the 63rd minute, after Gennaro Gattusso was adjudged to have fouled Nicholas Anelka. Alex converted th eresulting penalty.

Mlan would soon restor their advantage, though: after collecting from deep, Kaka undulated through Fenerbache’s fatigued defence, evading several tackles to score what will surely be one of the best goal of this season’s Champions League.

The victory was confirmed threeminutes later when Andriey Schevchenko slotted home just before the final whistle.
