Chelsea have denied repors that club doctor Neil Frazer was sacked following a row with manager Jose Mourinho over the extent of Arjen Robben’s injury.

A club statement said Frazer had “stepped down due to ill health”.

“The club would like to thank him for his service and wish him all the best for the future.”

Robben has been ruled out for two months after breaking two bones in his foot in Chelsea’s win at Blackburn.

The dispute is alleged to have happened last Saturday on the Chelsea training ground, where Frazer reportedly disagreed with Mourinho’s diagnosis that the winger could recover in time for the Carling Cup final.
