Uefa has confirmed that Chelsea will face disciplinary charges following their Champions League clash against Barcelona.

Chelsea were late when they returned to the the pitch for the second half, and after the match, coach Jose Mourinho’s did not attend the news conference.

A Uefa spokesman confirmed: “We have started a disciplinary case against Chelsea for the late arrival on to the pitch from the dressing room for the second half and the non-appearance of the coach at the post-match media conference.

“We have notified the club that the matter will be dealt with on 24 March and they can can submit a statement to us.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea are set to make a formal report to Uefa about the fact that Barca coach Frank Rijkaard’s spoke to referee Anders Frisk at half-time.
