French left-back Aly Cissokho’s move from Porto to Milan is in jeopardy over a dental problem, the Serie A club’s chief executive Adriano Galliani has revealed.

Milan had been expected to announce earlier this week that the 21-year-old was their first signing since coach Carlo Ancelotti and playmaker Kaka left for Chelsea and Real Madrid respectively.

But the problem uncovered in a medical on Tuesday prompted the Italians to seek to renegotiate the terms of the transfer, which Italian media said was worth around €15 million.

“Our doctors found some problems with his teeth which cause muscular trouble, which he has and which could deteriorate,” Galliani told Sky television.

“So I made a proposal to Porto to make it a loan with a option to buy and no longer a permanent deal. We’ll have him with us and treat him next season and if the player is all right we’ll buy him in a year’s time.

“Porto accepted the idea of a loan but not the cost and we are negotiating. If Porto don’t accept our figure, we’ll pull out. At the moment it’s more No than Yes.”

Milan are hopeful of buying Wolfsburg’s Bosnia striker Edin Dzeko. The German club have recently given hints they may be willing to open talks after initially saying the 23-year-old was not for sale.
