Portuguese coach Humberto Coelho is in the running to take over as national coach of World Cup co-hosts and semi-finalists South Korea.

Humberto, who guided Portugal to the semi-finals of the 2000 European Championship, was recently short-listed for the China national team post which was awarded ultimately to Dutchman Arie Haan.

South Korea are looking to make a new long-term appointment to follow Guus Hiddink who managed their remarkable World Cup campaign then returned to club football with Holland’s PSV Eindhoven.
