Cologne coach Zvonimir Soldo has confirmed the club are close to agreeing a loan deal for Manchester United winger Zoran Tosic.

The Serbia international has not made the breakthrough expected of him at Old Trafford since his move from Partizan Belgrade 12 months ago.

He has been restricted to just five substitute appearances for the Premier League champions and has only appeared in two Carling Cup ties this season.

Tosic is expected to join Cologne on loan for the rest of the season with reports suggesting the move could be made permanent in the summer.

“He is a technically gifted player that can play in various positions as a forward,” Soldo told Express.

“He is already a candidate to play from the start in our line-up.”
