Corinthians president Kia Joorabchian has played down reports claiming Argentinian star Carlos Tevez is set to leave the club.

Tevez has been quoted as saying he will leave Corinthians for a European side after the World Cup in Germany this summer, but Joorabchian insists he is going nowhere.

“I can offer Tevez a new contract to make him stay,” said Joorabchian.

“I know that we are going to receive many proposals for Tevez but we don’t have any interest in negotiating.

“I am sure one day he will leave Corinthians but that will be at least four or five years, not at this moment when we are in the middle of a project.”

Joorabchian believes the comments attributed to Tevez have been fabricated.

“I even doubt what has been published,” he continued.

“I don’t think that he would say he would like to leave Corinthians after the World Cup because I speak with him frequently and he didn’t tell me anything about that.

“Anyway, if a team wants him they will have to pay €120 million to initiate a clause in his contract.

“But even if a team comes and offers that I doubt Tevez would leave.

“He has said to me many times that he likes Corinthians and that he is happy here with us.”
