Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that forward Cristiano Ronaldo will be fit to play in the second leg Champions League clash against Manchester City.

Ronaldo was named on the bench last week, after travelling to Manchester – and it was widely expected that he would be fit to start.

However Zidane felt that it was not worth risking the Portuguese superstar, and decided to rest him for the return game in Madrid.

“Cristiano is okay. He is 100 per cent. He trained this morning and he will be there tomorrow,” said Zidane

“The whole week, little by little, Ronaldo has been recovering. That’s how it is with this player.

“He’s very quick and he looks after himself a lot.”

However the game comes too soon for striker Karim Benzema who came off against Man City last week with injury.

“Karim and Case [Casimero] are different. Karim still had a doubt and we don’t want to risk it, and the same goes for Case,” added Zidane.

“It is not an injury, just a bit of a problem, but we have another squad list and so everybody else can play.”
