Olivier Dacourt has arrived in Italy to complete his medical, with a view to signing on loan with Roma until the end of the season.

The out-of-favour Leeds midfielder is expected to agree terms today and may make his debut against Chievo at the weekend. Although Dacourt will sign on loan, both parties are interested in a permanent deal should the initial pepriod be a success.

Dacourt has barely figured for Leeds since the appointment of Terry Venables as coach and the Frenchman couldn’t resist one parting shot as he flew to Rome.

“I want to show I can be a Serie A player,” he enthused. “And that Venables has blundered.

“For (Franco) Sensi and (Fabio) Capello, I’ll do my best.” parting shot
