French midfielder Olivier Dacourt has been fined by Leeds United after he branded the club a ‘disgrace’ in an interview with France Football magazine.

Dacourt described the team’s form as “a disgrace” and of his relationship with manager Terry Venables, the midfielder said it was “distant”.

Discussing the outburst and subsequent fine, Leeds boss Terry Venables told BBC Radio Leeds: “As far as I’m concerned the matter has been dealt with and he has been fined.

“He says he has been misquoted and I have never said that he won’t play for the club again.”

Meanwhile Dacourt is understood to have told the club that he wants to leave if Terry Venables remains in charge.

“If Venables remains in charge, it looks like Olivier will have to leave,” said the player’s agent Bruno Satin.
