UEFA have handed a three-match European ban to Rangers’ striker Jean-Claude Darcheville after he stamped on Lyon midfielder Kim Kallstrom during a Champions League match.
Darcheville was sent off during stoppage time of the Group E meeting on December 12 which ended Rangers’ hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages.
The defeat meant that Rangers enter the UEFA Cup, where Darcheville will now sit out at least the first matches of his ban.
The Scottish team have been drawn against Greek side Panathinaikos for February’s first knock out round of matches.
