Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has confirmed that midfielder Ruben de la Red will be out for the rest of the season.

De la Red, 23, collapsed during Real’s 3-2 Copa del Rey loss at Real Union in October with a suspected heart anomaly.

The Primera Division champions already have striker Ruud van Nistelrooy and midfielder Mahamadou Diarra out for the campaign with knee injuries.

“I can’t remember a situation like the one we are in right now, with three players sidelined for the entire season,” Calderon told Spanish television station La Sexta.
