Barcelona playmaker Deco hopes to meet Chelsea in this season’s Champions League final.

Spanish champions Barcelona and their Premiership counterparts Chelsea are the favourites to lift the trophy at Stade de France next May.

The two clubs met at the knockout stage of the competition last season with Chelsea eventually prevailing over two legs.

Deco, who won the tournament under current Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho at Porto in 2004, is hoping to meet again but this time in the final.

“Chelsea are a great team with a great coach, who is also my friend,” Deco told El Mundo Deportivo.

“I would like to play against them in the final.

“It would be a great game.”

Deco also confirmed that he is happy with coach Frank Rijkaard’s policy of rotating players, even though it means he will not play every match,

“It is normal that there will be rotations,” he added.

“The coach has to decide that.

“If he decided that I was tired and that, with Ronnie (Ronaldinho), we needed to rest, it is his decision and we have to respect it.”
