German international midfielder Sebastian Deisler has dennied suggestions that his career is over following the cruciate ligament injury that has ruled him out of the World Cup in June and July.

Deisler learned he would be out for six months with another injury to his right knee but the Bayern Munich midfielder has vowed to bounce back.

“I have had quite a few injuries now and if everything goes okay I will play again,” Deisler told German television channel DSF.

“When that will be I can not say.

“It is unfortunate to miss out out on the World Cup but there is nothing I can do about it. I just have to keep my fingers crossed.”

Deisler missed out on the 2002 World Cup with the same injury and has undergone five operations in eight years on his right knee.
