Besiktas will be coached next season by former Real Madrid coach Vicente del Bosque following the departure of Mircea Lucescu.

Del Bosque, who has not worked since leaving Real Madrid in 2002, has agreed a two-year deal with the Turkish side.

“He is a very successful coach who led Real Madrid to big achievements,” said Besiktas vice-president Kivanc Oktay.

“We put all our effort into getting him in charge of our team.”

“We appointed Del Bosque because we wanted to him as our coach, this is not related to Lothar MatthŠus’s decision.”

Lucescu left Besiktas last month to take over Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.
