Luigi Del Neri has revealed that he has been approached by Roma to take over from Rudi Voller.

Voller resigned from his post after a defeat at the weekend, after just 26 days in the role.

Del Neri admitted at the weekend that the club had approached him.

“There is some truth in it,” said Delneri. “But nothing is done yet.”

“There has only been an approach.

“I was also contacted before Voller was appointed and they decided to go for the man they thought was better then.

“I think a coach would be right to be given certain guarantees.

“I am available and Roma are an important side – so I would be keen to take the job.

“The coach brings his experience with him and his will to work, and I do not think the club are in a crisis.”

The former Chievo coach is without a club after his brief spell at Porto ended almost as soon as it began, when pressure from senior players forced him to stand down.
