Juventus star Alessandro Del Piero insists he does not have a problem with Italian coach Marcello Lippi, despite being left out of Italy’s squad to face Scotland in next week’s World Cup qualifier.

Del Piero says there is no bad blood between him and Lippi, who was his club manager for a number of years.

“As for the national team, I confirm what I said after the match with Reggina [on Saturday], with Lippi there is ten years’ relationship of acquaintance and esteem, so this missed call-up isn’t a problem,” he said.

“If I continue to play in the manner that I have been recently then I won’t have any problems regarding my spot in the squad,” he added.

“I don’t feel as if I’ve been ruled out of the running to be a part of the set-up for Germany 2006.”
