Real Sociedad coach Raynald Denoueix has played down his team’s title chances despite a seven-point lead at the top of the Spanish first division.

“We are just concentrating on our next match against Malaga and nothing more,” the former Nantes coach said.

“All we want to do is to start next year in the same way as we have ended this year.”

Sociedad extended their lead over second-placed Valencia after victory over bottom club Recreativo. Valencia slipped to a 1-0 home defeat to Deportivo La Coruna.

“I was very pleased with the victory,” said Denoueix.

“It was a very tricky match and the pitch did not suit us but we stuck at it and played well in the end.”
