Derby County have signed French winger Laurent Robert and agreed a deal with Blackburn Rovers for midfielder Robbie Savage.
In a statement on their Web site Derby said Robert, 32, would complete his move to Pride Park later on Tuesday.
The former Newcastle United player, without a club since leaving Levante of Spain, will sign a deal until the end of the season subject to international clearance.
Savage, 33, was also expected at Pride Park for talks later on Tuesday.
The midfielder moved to Blackburn from Birmingham for £3.1m in January 2005 but lost his regular starting place in the side at the end of October.
Derby are bottom of the table having won one of their 21 league games, collecting just seven points and look certain to be relegated.
Argentine striker Emanuel Villa joined Derby from Mexican team UAG Tecos for £2m on Friday while manager Paul Jewell has also completed the loan signing of former England defender Danny Mills from Manchester City.
