Bolton Wanderers forward El Hadji Diouf has been ordered to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court following allegations of spitting during a match at Middlesbrough last November.

Diouf is accused of disorderly conduct after a Middlesbrough fan complained that Diouf had spit a mouthful of drink into the crowd.

The 24-year-old is currently on loan from Liverpool, who signed him from French club Lens for £10m in 2002.

A Crown Prosecution Service spokeswoman said: “Proceedings have been issued, it’s in the court system now…the magistrates will have signed the summons and it will be going out.”
