Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke is confident the club will be able to retain their key players beyond the end of the season.

Dortmund are currently ten points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, and reports have circulated that their star players will attract interest at the end of the season.

Asked if he feared Bayern Munich could swoop in the summer, Watzke told Bild: “I’m pretty sure that there will be interest in some of our players, and other clubs will try to lure some of our stars away from Dortmund.

“However, all our key players have long-term deals and it’s quite simple: we won’t sell any of our stars. They all know where they get the best overall package. I don’t have the feeling anyone wants to leave the club.”

Dortmund head to the Allianz Arena on Saturday for a critical clash with the reining champions, with Bayern president Uli Hoeness having said this week that he expects “a clear victory” and that “Dortmund have no chance”.

Asked about the comments, Watzke said: “He has the right to say that, but I was brought up by my parents to show modesty.”
