Brazilian international midfielder Edu has confirmed that he will leave Arsenal at the end of the season.

“I’ve decided to go after the FA Cup final but I haven’t decided which club I’m going to join,” Edu told BBC Sport.

“A lot of clubs have asked about me and since January my agent has spoken to Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia in Spain and Juventus in Italy.

“To be honest I don’t know what will be the best thing for me to do. Real Madrid wanted to talk to me but then they signed Thomas Gravesen.

“If I go there I will have to fight for my position with some big guys. So I have to be careful.

“The same is true of Barcelona – it’s a club with a big squad.

“I don’t want to go to a club and just be part of the squad, that’s not my plan.

“Apart from how much I would be playing, it’s also about the country and whether my family will be happy that I have to think about.

“But I’m sure of one thing – I want to play always.”

After his move to Valencia broke down following the Spanish club’s refusal to pay a fee for his services, Edu was sidelined by a broken toe.
