England fans could be barred entry to Liechtenstein, prior to the Euro 2004 qualifier between the two countries on 29 March.

Liechtenstein’s Rheinpark Stadium can only hold 3,500 supporters, but as many as 1,000 England fans are expected to travel to the game without a ticket.

Fredi Hilti, Liechtenstein’s FA vice-president admitted: “It is a big problem we have to solve so we may not let them enter our country without a ticket.

“We can make border controls and check fans’ tickets. We only have a few borders so it should be easy.”

With only has 30 trained riot police and only two cells in their police station in Vaduz, Hilti has concerns about security. Although he said he has details of known English hooligans he is worried about Swiss and German hooligans arriving to start a fight with the English fans.

Liechtenstein does not have an airport and therefore many fans will arrive via Switzerland.
