England coach boss Sven Goran Eriksson has agreed to discuss extending his contract to 2008 after the friendly international against Portugal next week.

His existing contract runs until 2006, but there have been persistent rumours of a switch to club management with Chelsea reported to be keen on acquiring the Swede’s services.

Trevor Brooking, the FAs director of football development, said: “The focus is on the next game in Portugal. Lets get it out of the way and see where we are.”
