Can Alan Pardew get his Newcastle reign off to a winning start against Liverpool this weekend?

Estudiantes vice president Marcelo Malaespina expects coach Alejandro Sabella to honour his contract, which expires in June.

Sabella is widely reported to be the leading candidate to take over at River Plate, who have been without a permanent coach since Angel Cappa resigned last month. Interim coach Juan Jose Lopez has been in charge since, but he will step down when River Plate ends the Apertura season on Monday against Lanus.

“I have no doubt that Sabella will stay with Estudiantes,” Malaespina told Fox Sports. “We have not spoken about any offer from River, because it is not necessary.”

Estudiantes can wrap up the Apertura title on Sunday with a victory over Arsenal. Second-place Velez play Sunday against Racing.

Boca Juniors are also looking for a new coach with Banfield’s Julio Falcioni favored to take over.

Roberto Pompei has coached Boca on an interim basis since Claudio Borghi quit last month. Borghi became Boca’s fourth coach in four months when he was hired in May.
