Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o is relishing his gradual return to fitness following a four-month injury lay-off.

Eto’o has been out of action for several months since damaging a meniscus in September, and is delighted at being able to train once again.

“I have to take care of myself. Coming back too soon and hurting myself again within two or three weeks would be useless,” Eto’o told Sport24.

“So I will make my return step-by-step, but I am very happy to be back training.

“I am not used to long-term absences, but the weirdest thing has been to put on my training top – it made me feel that I am a footballer again.

“I think that I have missed my team-mates more than they have missed me,” added Eto’o.

“They have done very well. The defeat against Espanyol is not a problem, the league is long and we have to be focused.”
