Everton have agreed a £5m deal with Udinese for their Danish international central defender Per Kroldrup.

The 25-year-old was a key figure in Udinese’s unexpected Champions League qualification.

Everton manager David Moyes had been pursuing Manchester City defender Sylvain Distin, but he was unwilling to match City’s £7m valuation of the defender.

The move is subject to personal terms being agreed and a medical.

But Everton are confident that Kroldrup will become their second signing of the summer, following the arrival last month of Simon Davis in a £4m deal.
