Everton have made an official complaint against referee Alan Wiley after he allegedly warned the fourth official to “keep an eye” on Duncan Ferguson, when the striker came on as a substitute during Sunday’s defeat at Arsenal.
Club officials were furious at the reported remarks, which were made when Ferguson was coming on as a late substitute in the 2-1 defeat at Highbury.
Everton boss has already spoken with Premier League referees’ chief Philip Don and the Premier League, but was disappointed with the response he received.
Moyes told the club’s offcial website: “I didn’t see it at the time, but to hear about the discrimination made against one of our players is unacceptable.
“I spoke to Philip Don and his words to me were that the referee warned the linesman that there would be more aerial challenges from Everton.
“I find that an incredible thing to say,’ Moyes added.
‘It’s completely wrong. I asked whether they did that with all the other centre forwards who challenge consistently, or was Duncan Ferguson just being picked on?
“I’m disappointed in Alan Wiley really because I think he had an ok game. I had some words with him after the game regarding the goal, which I felt shouldn’t have stood.”
