Everton defender Joleon Lescott has been omitted from Everton’s squad to face Sigma Olomouc in their Europa League play-off.

The news comes amid reports that the defender, who submitted a transfer request last week, was training away from the first-team squad.

Everton boss David Moyes said: “Joleon’s attitude has not been right these past days, he has disappointed me and he has disappointed his team-mates. He is not in the right frame of mind.”

But Moyes insisted he still does not want to sell the player, saying: “I hope this will all be sorted out, after the (transfer) deadline.”

Lescott handed in a written transfer request at Goodison Park last week, after free-spending Manchester City had offers of £15m and £19m turned down by the Toffees.

The Eastlands club have yet to make a third bid, but Lescott has made it clear that he would be keen to move, despite manager David Moyes branding City’s attempts to lure the player away from Merseyside as ”disgusting”.

Former Everton defender Richard Dunne – currently on the books at Eastlands – could be offered in part-exchange and the Merseysiders are believed to be ready to sell if City return with an improved bid upwards of £22m.
