The Football Association board will meet today to discuss the Premier League’s plans for an ‘international round’ of fixtures.

Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards is due to present the proposal for each club to play an additional fixture in overseas from the 2010-11 season.

FA chairman Lord Triesman has also outlined his concerns, questioning the detrimental efffect the bid could have on England’s 2018 World Cup bid.

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore admitted on Tuesday for the first time that the plans may have to be shelved if they fail to gain approval from Fifa.

Reports suggest that Scudamore will fly to Zurich next week in a bid to convince Blatter of the benefits of the plan ahead of the Fifa executive committee meeting on 14th March.
