Arsenal’s hard fought victory over Sunderland takes them back to the top of the Premiership with the Gunners now BP 9-4 to win the title.

Cesc Fabregas’ agent has refused to rule out a move to Barcelona although he said he knew nothing about a possible switch.

Reports in Spain have claimed Barcelona are lining up a move for Fabregas as they look to reunite him with Thierry Henry.

Fabregas started his career at Barcelona before Arsenal lured him to London.

Fabregas has never hidden his desire to return to Spain one day and both Barcelona and Real Madrid are believed to be keen on securing his services.

The player’s agent Joseba Diaz says he has had no contact with Barcelona, but admitted that Fabregas would be flattered by any interest from club.

“Neither the player nor I have considered the news, really, and all we’re thinking about is the match against Denmark. What will be, will be,” Diaz told Radio Marca.

“But if we do hear of an offer from Barcelona, the club that taught him so much, then that would be a real compliment to Cesc.”

Arsenal are unlikely to be interesetd in selling Fabregas, particularly as the player recently signed a long-term contract at Emirates Stadium.

Meanwhile, Barcelona could find themselves in a dispute with Arsenal youngster Fran Merida over his compensation fee.

Diaz also represents Merida, who left Barcelona for Arsenal at the age of 16.

Barcelona took the player to court accusing him of breaking an agreement with them to move to England.

An independent tribunal ruled earlier this week that Merida must pay Barcelona €3.2million in compensation for leaving the club.

“We are not in agreement with the opinion, so we will continue fighting until the end if it is necessary,” noted Diaz.

“This issue has not finished.”
