Danish champions FC Copenhagen say Roland Nilsson, currently in charge of Swedish club Malmo, will replace Stale Solbakken as head coach.

Copenhagen said in a statement Friday that the 47-year-old Nilsson has signed a three-year contract and will join the club “as soon as possible,” but no later than July 1.

Malmo, however, said it had not agreed to release Nilsson from his current contract, which expires at the end of the year. Malmo CEO Per Nilsson said the two clubs were having a “good dialogue” over the issue.

Solbakken, who led Copenhagen to the knockout stage of the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history this year, is returning to his native Norway to become coach of the national team.
