Sir Alex Ferguson insists he will not become embroiled in a war of words with Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon.

The Manchester United manager was critical of Real in an interview with GQ magazine and his comments drew an angry response from the Spanish champions.

Calderon suggested Ferguson was going senile as the fall-out, an accusation Ferguson attributed to a lingering bitterness at Real’s failure to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ferguson told Sky Sports News: “Calderon has got a few things to say every week.

“A lot of hot air comes out of that man, but I’m not getting involved.

“The nub of it is he is very disappointed he did not get Ronaldo.

“I’m delighted to say he’s still here and I will keep repeating that.”
