Sir Alex Ferguson has embarked upon his annual war of words with his closest title rivals by labelling Arsenal triumphalist.

Ferguson claims winning the Premier League this season would be Manchester United’s ‘greatest’ ever achievement.

‘If we win the title this year, it will be our greatest feat yet,’ said the United boss.

‘We’ve alwayys respected how difficult the Premier League is to win. We respect our opponents, do you understand that? But they say they’re going to win the treble don’t they?

‘If we won it now, it would be incredible. This has been our biggest-ever challenge, given the triumphalism of Arsenal and the position we found ourselves in where we have had to whittle away at their lead.

‘They have been saying they will win the Treble, haven’t they? And I was surprised that Arsene Wenger said they would still win the league after they lost at Blackburn.

‘When the title is still undecided you can never say things like that with any certainty. I never would.’
