The FIGC have announced that Ciro Ferrara will take over as coach of the Italian Under-21 national team.
Former Juventus coach Ferrara has signed a two year contract. His appointment comes after Italy failed to qualify for the 2011 European Championship and 2012 Olympics under Pierluigi Casiraghi
Ferrara has confimed that Italy world cup winner Angelo Peruzzi will be his assistant until his contract expires in 2013.
Ferrara was an assistant coach to Marcello Lippi when Italy won the 2006 World Cup. He was then named Juventus manager for the 2009-10 season but was fired midway through the Serie A campaign.
