Mario Been has agreed a deal to become Feyenoord boss at the end of the season.

Been is currently in charge of Feyenoord’s Eredivisie rivals NEC Nijmegen but he will leave his role in the summer.

Feyenoord have been looking for a new coach since firing Gertjan Verbeek on 14th January and have secured Been on a three-year contract.

Been, who began his playing career with Feyenoord, is looking forward to the challenge that awaits.

“In various ways I am pleased that everything worked out,” Been is quoted as saying in the Dutch press.

“Feyenoord is my club and I always dreamed about returning there as head coach.

“But I also am pleased that I can finish my work in Nijmegen, starting with the match against Feyenoord this coming weekend.”

Feyenoord are currently 12th in the Eredivisie, four places below NEC Nijmegen.
