FIFA officials are to meet in two weeks time to discuss whether to increase the number of World Cup entrants in 2006 from 32 to 36.

The request has come from CONMEBOL, the South American Football Association after they lost a place in the competition to Oceania.

The World Cup Organising Committee and broadcasters have no objection to an increased, but FIFA President Sepp Blatter was initially against the idea.

Additionally, FIFA have confirmed that the World Youth Cup has been re arranged for November and December this year after postponing it from March due the military conflict in Iraq. The event will still be hosted by the United Arab Emirates.
