FIFA has ordered Iraq to play next month’s 2004 Olympic qualifying game against Vietnam at a neutral venue.
The first leg match was scheduled to be played in Baghdad on 5 April, but with war looming FIFA took the decision to rearrange the tie, last Tuesday.
Iraq has already had an appeal rejected by FIFA.
An Asian Football Confederation (AFC) spokesman said: “We are sending a letter to Iraq today asking them to confirm a new venue outside of Iraq.”
Secretary general of the Vietnam Football Federation Pham Ngoc Vien has written to the AFC suggesting the game be played in Vietnam or alternatively in Malaysia, Singapore or Thailand.
The return leg is due to be played on 19 April.
