Former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz is to buy cash-strapped Serie A Parma.

Parma, who are currently in administration following the collapse of their parent company Parmalat, said in a statement that they had accepted a proposal from Sanz’s company to buy the club.

The statement said the transaction was expected to be fully completed by September 20.

Sanz was president of Real from 1995 to 2000, before being unseated by present incumbent Florentino Perez.
