Arsenal’s hard fought victory over Sunderland takes them back to the top of the Premiership with the Gunners now BP 9-4 to win the title.

France striker Nicolas Anelka and defender Julien Escude have been ruled out of Wednesday’s crucial Euro 2008 qualifier against Lithuania in Nantes.

“Sevilla defender Julien Escude, who is injured, has left Clairefontaine (France training camp) this morning. He is out of Wednesday’s game,” the French Football Federation said on their Web site.

“Nicolas Anelka is also out of the game,” added FFF spokesman Yann Le Guillard.

No replacements have been called up by coach Raymond Domenech.
